Penvy may already be in Shortcuts here: iCloud copies your shortcuts to all your devices. Then skip this step.
Already have an older Penvy shortcut? Delete it first, so the new one keeps the name Penvy.

Connect it to your account
Runs Penvy once, so it knows it's yours. When Shortcuts asks, tap Always Allow.
Afterwards Shortcuts brings you back here.

Not connected yet.
Back from Shortcuts, but not connected? Check that the shortcut is called exactly
Penvy and that you tapped Always Allow, then tap Connect Penvy again.

Set up a quick way to start it
Open Settings, then Apple Pencil.
Tap Squeeze, then Shortcut.
Pick Penvy. Squeezing now runs Penvy in every app.
Works with Apple Pencil Pro on iPad Pro (M4 or newer), iPad Air (M2 or newer) and iPad mini (A17 Pro). Try it inside your notes app: if squeezing opens a tool palette there instead, look in that app’s Apple Pencil settings. Squeezing by accident? Make it firmer under Settings › Accessibility › Apple Pencil.
Open Settings, then Accessibility, Touch and AssistiveTouch. Turn it on.
Under Custom Actions, tap Double-Tap and pick Penvy.
Now double-tap the floating button in any app, also in your notes app.
A good choice without an Apple Pencil Pro. You can drag the button to any edge of the screen.
Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Touch.
Scroll all the way down, tap Back Tap, then Double Tap.
Scroll to Shortcuts and choose Penvy.
Open Settings, then Action Button.
Swipe through the actions until you see Shortcut.
Tap Choose a Shortcut and pick Penvy. Press and hold the button to run it.
iPhone SE, iPhone 15 and older, and iPhone Duo have no Action button.
Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center (on an iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom).
Tap + in the top-left corner, then Add a Control.
Search for Shortcut, tap it, tap Choose and pick Penvy.
On iPad, also turn on Settings › Control Center › Access Within Apps, so Control Center opens inside your notes app.
Open the Shortcuts app and tap ••• on Penvy.
Tap the arrow next to the name at the top, then Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add. On iPad you can drag the icon into the Dock.
Nothing to switch on. Select text in any app and tap Share.
Scroll down past the row of apps and tap Penvy.
To find it faster, tap Edit Actions at the bottom and add Penvy to Favorites.
Nothing to set up. Siri knows every shortcut by its name.
Copy some text and say "Siri, Penvy".
If your device is locked, Siri asks you to unlock it first.

Try it
Copy the example, then run Penvy. Your notes app opens.
Touch and hold the page and tap Paste.
The first time, iOS asks whether Penvy may paste and connect to the internet. Tap Allow Paste and Always Allow.
